Why Am I So Unmotivated?

Am I just lazy? Do I lack dreams to achieve? What is wrong with me? Am I unambitious in life? Why am I not hustling? Why am I not working hard? Am I just one of the mediocre populations? or maybe I've always been scared to fail that's why I never do anything. Doing nothing won't let me experience rejections, failures and embarrassment which are my greatest fears.

The most dangerous place you could stay is your comfort zone. It freezes you and waste your time. Mostly our questions for ourselves are already answered somewhere in our mind. Sometimes we just avoid them because we're still scared to face the untold truth.

I know for myself that I feel unmotivated because I feel like there's nothing out there for me. I'm also unmotivated with the fact that I easily get scared. I easily back out and that's one of the main reasons why I'm unmotivated to do things and try new stuff. The combination of being hopeless and fearful makes me do nothing. A few years later, I just become no one.

They say that the time you get scared is the perfect time to jump. When life scares the hell out of you it means that's the perfect time to speak and do you. Well, that's perfectly true.

Fear is either the one that protects us or destroys us.

Fear protects us and keeps us safe. Our brain sends a message that there's a danger and that will keep you alarmed and focused. Fear will keep you awake just to be ready for what possible danger that could possibly happen. Fear keeps you alive, but it could also destroy you. It destroys you in a way your brain can excessively protect you from the unrealistic danger. To the point where you are not living anymore but hiding.

HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF MOTIVATED

1. ASSESS

Assess what pulls you back. Assess what scares you and hinders you from doing the things you need to do. Assess what makes your heart pump without even noticing. Most importantly, assess your goal. It's hard to keep driving without any direction to follow. It's going to be hard for you to keep yourself moving and motivated if you don't even have a direction to follow or goals to achieve.

2. Small Habits

I've read the book Atomic Habits by James Clear and it is one of the books I've read that is so refreshing. He explained how our tiny changes can create powerful results. You won't feel motivated every day, that's too impossible. But you can trick your mind by creating rituals or routine and make your mind familiar with the actions. So that you won't depend on the "feeling" of being motivated.

3. REWARD

Motivating yourself won't always be pleasurable and easy. Keeping yourself motivated every day is exhausting. Rewarding yourself doesn't mean it has to be a material kind of reward. It can be a rest-day reward for yourself, an ice cream, time with your loved one or even pampering yourself. By doing that, it recharges you and helps with think with a clearer mind.
